The Porsche Cayenne: A Legacy of Innovation
The Porsche Cayenne has been Porsche's flagship SUV for many years now. However, a lot has changed since its debut. This year alone Porsche has put out five Cayenne trim models, three of which are E-Hybrids. It also produced the Cayenne Coupe, which features a lower profile and sleeker, less rounded rear design. All in all, it means that consumers have a lot of choices when it comes to purchasing the Cayenne.
The Standard Cayenne Models
There are two gas-powered trim models of the original Cayenne. These are the standard Cayenne base model and the Cayenne S. The other three, which are E-hybrids, are the base model hybrid, the Cayenne S hybrid, and the Cayenne Turbo hybrid. The latter two hybrid models are new this year, which makes them more desirable by those wanting to see and test drive them.
The Cayenne Coupe Models
There are six coupe trim level models. The base model, of course, is the Cayenne Coupe, followed by the S Coupe and the Turbo GT Coupe. The remaining three models are all hybrids. Not surprisingly, the E-hybrid models are the electric versions of the base model, the S Coupe, and the Turbo Coupe. It's just a matter of preference on how you want to drive and how you want your Porsche Cayenne to be fueled.
All Tiptronic, No Other Option
Tiptronic is Porsche's automatic shifting design that allows drivers the ability to drive like the vehicle is a manual. It sounds confusing, but once you get used to how the system works, it's really quite ingenious. The shift paddles are on the steering wheel itself, and the driver can override automatic decisions by the car simply by using one of the paddles to shift into a more agreeable gear. If you aren't fond of the Tiptronic system, there really isn't any other option. It's the same if you drive an E-hybrid model or a gas model.
